WENATCHEE – Wenatchee will mark Veterans Day on Wednesday, Nov. 11, with a downtown parade, an 11 a.m. ceremony at Memorial Park and a free barbecue open to the public at Pybus Public Market.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. and travel down Chelan Avenue to Memorial Park at Orondo Avenue. Spectators can watch along Chelan Avenue or gather at the park, where the parade will pause for a ceremony that includes a rifle salute and the playing of taps before continuing.

East Wenatchee Mayor Jerrilea Crawford said people who want to take part in the parade should meet at the Wells Fargo bank in downtown Wenatchee at 10:35 a.m. She said the American Legion parade will include marching bands and veterans organizations.

Crawford shared the schedule after reading East Wenatchee’s Veterans Day proclamation at the Nov. 3 City Council meeting. She said the day will begin with breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. at American Legion Post 10, 208 N. Wenatchee Ave. Breakfast is free for veterans and open to the public by donation, she said.

After the parade, Wenatchee Valley firefighters with Local 453 will host the annual Veterans Day barbecue from noon to 3 p.m. at the Pybus Public Market Events Center, 3 N. Worthen St. Organizers said veterans, military families and other members of the public are welcome. The free lunch will include entertainment, and no reservations are required.

American Legion Post 10 also lists a 6 p.m. Veterans Day dinner at the Wenatchee Avenue post location.
