The Seven Acres Foundation has appointed three new members to its board of directors, adding nearly 80 years of combined experience in technology, public service, and marketing to support the mission of the Lake Chelan Community Center.
Erik von Fuchs, Ricardo Castro, and Rod Brooks will serve on the board as the Foundation continues efforts to strengthen community connections across generations.
Von Fuchs brings a 28-year career at Microsoft, where he was among the company’s first mechanical engineers and contributed to the development of the first optical mouse. He most recently served as General Manager of Engineering for the Devices Engineering Tools & Services team. According to a Foundation spokesperson, “Erik's commitment to community runs deep, shaped by his belief that interdependence creates more meaningful outcomes than independence alone.” Von Fuchs currently mentors students at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business.
Ricardo Castro, a Wenatchee native and Manson High School graduate, serves as a Facilities Specialist for the City of Chelan. He spent 18 years as a wildland firefighter with the U.S. Forest Service and is active in local leadership roles, including serving as vice president of the City Union, a middle school board member, and a youth sports coach.
Rod Brooks brings four decades of experience in marketing, including nearly 20 years as Chief Marketing Officer for PEMCO Mutual Insurance. Since retiring in 2018, Brooks has focused on fostering intergenerational relationships through initiatives like “The Grandpa Project,” “Grandpa Camp,” and “Grandpas in the Classroom.” He and his wife moved to Chelan full-time following retirement.
“We are thrilled to welcome Erik, Ricardo, and Rod to our board,” said board president Brooke Isaak. “Their combined expertise in technology innovation, community development, and strategic communications will be invaluable as we continue to expand our impact and serve the growing needs of our community.”
The Seven Acres Foundation oversees the Lake Chelan Community Center, which aims to bring people together through programs and facilities that serve all ages and backgrounds.
