Fall Harvest Roundup brings hayrides, Halloween fun to Rocky Reach Oct. 24

Posted

WENATCHEE — Hayrides, trick-or-treating and carnival-style games will fill Rocky Reach Park on Oct. 24 as Chelan PUD hosts its free Fall Harvest Roundup.

The event runs from 1–4 p.m. at the park and Discovery Center, seven miles north of Wenatchee on Highway 97A. Costumes are encouraged.

Activities will pair seasonal fun with opportunities to learn about the Columbia River ecosystem and hydropower. Children can toss a lasso, explore a corn maze, compete in relays and search for a fish hidden in a haystack.

The event map also lists face painting, a toddler activity area, a magnetic makerspace and games with fishing and salmon themes.

The Wenatchee Valley’s own L-Bow the Clown will perform at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Inside the Discovery Center, a scavenger hunt will lead visitors through three floors of hands-on exhibits. Visitors can steer a steamship, crank a generator, step inside a Native tule house and look for salmon through the fish-viewing windows.

Mama D’s Café will sell hot dogs, chili and nachos in the park.

Both the park and Discovery Center will open at 1 p.m. that day to allow staff time to set up the event.

Following the roundup, the Discovery Center will continue its regular hours of 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
