CHELAN — Chelan's defense shut Quincy out in the first quarter, and the Goats' offense took over from there in a 52-27 nonleague football win Friday, Oct. 16.
After a scoreless first quarter, Chelan scored 21 points in the second and led 21-6 at halftime, according to MaxPreps. The Goats added 28 more in the third quarter. Quincy kept it close for a while with two kickoff returns for touchdowns, the Chelan Athletic Department said.
The Chelan offense took off on its third possession, the department said. Maddoc Finch made plays through the air and on the ground, Gage Puckett contributed in the running game and on defense, and Tanner Orestad sparked the receiving game.
“We have been telling our guys all season how important it is to start the game off being physical, and tonight it showed early on,” head coach Mike Stevens said in a school athletics release. “We are getting healthy, getting guys back, and putting it all together at the right time of the season.”
Chelan improved to 3-4. Quincy fell to 0-7.
The Goats host Cascade in a 1A Caribou Trail League game at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at Sargent Field.
